As August rolls around I always think of the opening paragraph of Natalie Babbitt’s book ‘Tuck Everlasting’.

“The first week of August hangs at the very top of the summer….the first week of August is motionless, and hot. …These are strange and breathless days, the dog days, when people are led to do things they are sure to be sorry for after.”

Thanks for the suggestion of Rear Window and I did just finish watching I Capture the Castle. I am drawn to shows that celebrate summer.

This is lovely. When I first saw the photo, I had a tiny internal gasp, thinking this was from the here and now. Thank you for sharing a reminder of days gone by and days still to come. I get impatient with audiobooks too, but I never thought of getting library CD's and listening in the car on long and short drives. I still have a car with a CD player too. With all the streaming potential, it seems most vehicles wouldn't install them anymore. Thanks again for your inspiration for gracious living.
