On the Sixth Day of a Feminine Christmas
This adorable little babe reminds me of my daughter – her coloring,
the rosebud lips, the tenderness… This
Christmas, my feelings of endearment know no bounds because in the New Year, I
will be the grandmother of what I am certain will be a close facsimile to the
precious child above.

Naturally my thoughts are threading their way to next
Christmas, when I will hold in my arms a beloved little girl who has
already stolen my heart. I’ve heard it
told that becoming a grandmother is like falling in love. Dear Readers, I’m there…

My daughter has retained her unique honey-colored hair like
the little one above, which enchanted me first on the dark snowy Epiphany night she was born; now three decades past. And
my mother and I were hard-pressed to find a simple doll whose hair would match
our girl’s. We knew we succeeded the

Mommy, she has the same hair as me!” Our
delight knew no bounds then, either.

Am I ashamed for the passionate love for my daughter that emotes
from me thus as I write? Just wait until
next Christmas. You have no idea…

Away in a manger
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
Lay down His sweet head
The stars in the sky
Look down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay
The cattle are lowing
The poor Baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes
I love Thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side
‘Til morning is nigh
(Her favorite lullaby)

I love this picture of our girl. I can’t wait to get my hands on that baby!!!! I have my own Christmas baby. Born a month too soon with a riot of dark hair. The nurse put a Christmas stocking hat on her to “calm” her hair. I cried on the car ride home. I never knew such joy. December 20th. The eve of the Winter Soltice when the light begins to return. She was born on the darkest night of the year. I always tell her she brought the light into my life.

Congratulations on your soon-to-be grandbaby! As a grandmother of a granddaughter, it is very special indeed.

Thank you for this beautiful post. My Christmas daughter was born on December 19 and recently had TWIN girls just as beautiful as herself. I find myself tearing up just to write this.
Merry Christmas! XO

I'm so happy that you will soon become a grandmother! Such joy ahead, Donna.
After 4 grown grandsons, we were gifted with two granddaughters. The boys were delightful, so much fun, but granddaughters were the icing on the cake. We just returned from a short visit with ours to see them in their school Christmas program, our 3 year old in it for the first time as a 2 day a week student, and our 5 year old a kindergarden student. I had tears in my eyes as I watched both of them and especially our older one as she played Mary and held the Babe so tenderly.
This evening I treated myself to time spent going back to your 12 Days of Feminine Christmas for 2016, every single one of them. Now I will go to bed with a smile on my face.

My Christmas baby was born on December 17th, and had to stay in the hospital due to complications. We brought her home on Christmas Day! The dear nurses had presented her to us in a big stocking with her name on it! Oh, that was the best Christmas ever!!! Love this darling image! Blessings on your little granddaughter, dear Grammy!
