On the Eleventh Day of a Feminine Christmas

In the mid-20th century, it was common for women wearing Christmas finery to have their picture taken in front of the Christmas tree.  The internet is loaded with these photos and I find them so interesting and dear.  Sometimes there is a big television set off to the side as in this image and sometimes, just lovely Christmas decor.  The pictures stand as a testament to changing styles and times and I’m assuming  the large family TV was rather a new thing.

I don’t know who this lovely lady is but I love her dress.  She has chosen red to represent the holiday for herself and I quite agree.  She is festive and pretty and judging by her face, in anticipation of a wonderful celebration before her.

The Christmas season is the perfect time to evoke the holidays through style.  Last night my sister gave me a darling brooch made of a green tartan bow with a bright crystal in the center.  I would never feel comfortable wearing it except at Christmastime.  It is just meant for right now and I will  make the most of my new bauble today, Christmas Day, by attaching it to my black sweater coat.  It will give the right amount of bling and brightness.  What bright shiny thing do you wear to evoke Christmas?

Merry Christmas!
