On the Second Day of a Feminine Christmas

Did you know that you can use the search button on this blog to have a nice read of all The Twelve Days of a Feminine Christmas?  A reader recently did that and found it very soothing.

Did you also know that “middle-age women standing in front of Christmas trees”  is actually a thing on the internet?  So many women had their pictures taken in front of their mid-century trees and there is a plethora of the images online.

I’ve always loved the subtle beauty of this picture.  Her attractive smile, the festive red dress, the tree, and the children’s toys at her feet.

Tinsel has made a comeback.  I was tempted to buy some for my little tree this season but with young grandchildren around, I thought it might be too much of a temptation.  I love the way it looks in this vintage photograph though.  It adds such a quaint old-fashioned sparkle.

I love that our model chose cherry red for her party dress and her lipstick.  Last weekend we had a family wedding and it was magical.  I almost wore red too but in the end opted for a safe navy blue chiffon, made festive by a hot pink evening bag.  It was wonderful to see everyone dressed up on a dark Christmastime night.

I bet this woman’s husband took her photograph before going out that night.  Perhaps her children were long asleep in their beds and Grandmother was babysitting.  I hope she had a wonderful time…

I have followed your blog for three or four years now and find the Feminine Christmases so wonderful, touching, warm and fun. Last year I went back to the beginning and re-read them over the course of a week. I agree; they do comfort and delight. I was fervently hoping you would continue this year and am so happy you are. We’re only a couple of years apart and your rememberences so reflect mine. Please know your blog brings joy to so many of us that haven’t commented in the past!

Doesn’t she look pretty?? I love how happy she seems and how proud of her lovely dress, fancy jewelry (I’m guessing that ring, which she is so obviously highlighting, was her husband’s crowning gift!), and festive tree. I’ll bet she had a wonderful time, too…if you start an evening (or event) in a good frame of mine and hold onto your dignity and joy, you’re bound to enjoy your time. Thanks for sharing this sweet reminder of how to “make spirits bright!” And yes, I was that reader who found your search capabilities and it was wonderful fun to look over the many Yuletide ideas and ideals you’ve shared over the years, Donna! Blessings!! XO
