On the Third Day of a Feminine Christmas
This young woman knows that hot pink is a fetching alternative to traditional red for Christmas. Even the door to her apartment is decorated with a cheery hot pink wreath that may or may not resemble a nylon shower poof. But the black leather gloves and furry hat tie her look together and are the perfect anchoring accessories for the bright coat.
At Christmas, pink can look especially charming with green as in a two-piece silk dress that captured my attention in a Seventeen magazine ad from long ago. A hot pink cashmere sweater could be enchanting with my decades-old moss-green net skirt and some bejeweled flats. You get the idea…
Tartans and black velvet will always have their place on Christmas Eve but for Christmas Day, especially a sunny Christmas Day, hot pink is a joyous option and as pretty and reflective as the iridescent baubles on a Christmas tree.

Although my complexion forbids me wearing hot pink, because I’m just too pale and monochromatic, I love the idea in decor, and especially on those girls lucky enough to have coloring that supports this unexpectedly, festive color. I’m dreaming of a pink Christmas this year too, on the mine will be a frosted, winter kissed pink, more of a soft sunset glow over a sparkling field of glittering snow. I love these happy little bursts of Christmas that you’re giving us, Donna! Keep it up!

What a great picture – love the hot pink.
A few years ago I bought a light gray wool winter coat and decided to pair it with baby pink accessories – hat, gloves, scarf, and a baby pink (called “carnation”) Kate Spade handbag.
It gets so many compliments – I think it’s unexpected in a land of black accessories and makes me feel pretty when the long gray winter seems endless.
