On the Seventh Day of a Feminine Christmas

A friend once asked me why I keep my robe across the bottom of my bed. Before I could respond, he answered himself…”I know. Because you’re a lady”.

I believe it was my grandmother who taught me to do this before I went to bed whenever I stayed with her. But you cannot watch old movies without noting that most woman keep their wrappers at the foot of the bed and no matter what emergency they rise for, including fire, they always put their robes on before stepping outside the bedroom door!

This angel reminds me that pink is such a lovely color for Christmastime. I’ve always been a fan so you don’t have to tell me twice that my rose-colored cashmere sweater would look great on Christmas day with my black net skirt. Red and green will always be the most jolly Christmas hues but pink, especially hot pink, is a merry alternative. She looks festive and darling in her pink robe and I couldn’t resist her. She is such a little lady!

This is inspiring me to buy one. There are not many well made pieces around these days, as the “fast fashion” is pretty cheaply made with not very great material. I don’t want to spend a fortune, but would like to purchase quality if there is such a thing in clothing. I once found a fine robe practically new at a thrift store – it is a Yves DeLorme, and I probably paid less than $5 for it. But it is somewhat smaller than I prefer and thin, so not snuggly for cold weather. I would even consider sewing my own if I could find fabric that is lovely.

And how about some feminine ballerina bedroom slippers to go with a lovely robe?

I love pink at Christmas! And you’re so right, hot pink is a perfect festive option for the holidays. This adorable little cutie is very ladylike and has that delicacy and femininity that makes her especially winsome. I love the idea of keeping one’s robe at the foot of the bed, however, my bed is so small and my legs are so long that whenever I try it, I routinely wind up kicking my robe to the floor sometime during the night. I compromise by hanging my robe on a hook behind the bedroom door so it is handy. I do love those movies, though, where women inevitably don their robes before leaving the bedroom. The modesty of that movement seems uniquely feminine.

I have never been a fan of pink however I receive so many compliments when I wear it! It is such a flattering color on everyone. Rose colored cashmere sounds lovely and absolutely perfect during Christmas. I have noticed women in old classic movies leaving robes across the foot of a bed. Rarely see it today but it totally makes sense. I’m so enjoying this feminine series.

Oh my, Donna. My Salvation Army find velour, embroidered, zip up robe is a lovely deep raspberry color! The zipper has a tassel.

It is handy to have it waiting at the foot of the bed and does feel very ladylike.

I think it originally was from Sears.

Thank you for your Christmas series and wishing you and yours a lovely day.
