On the Twelfth Day of a Feminine Christmas
Today is Epiphany which is the feast day commemorating the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child. Also known as “Little Christmas”, it is often thought to be the end of Christmas in some cultures. It is also my daughter’s birthday and the day I usually take my Christmas tree down.
Was your Christmas every little thing you hoped for? Maybe, like me, you didn’t have the holiday you envisioned this time. We weren’t able to celebrate due to a strangely long-lasting stomach virus that ripped through the family and like Agatha Christie’s popular mystery novel, “And Then There Were None”, we thus fell…
I am here to tell you that if your Christmas was disappointing, it doesn’t mean it was a wash-out. The days leading up to the holiday were very festive and not without excited anticipation which is always half the fun. I was also well enough to enjoy New Year’s Eve which was a blessing at last. Talking with a friend, it was determined that Christmas doesn’t just “happen” on Christmas Day itself. And for that matter, Christmas doesn’t just happen with one’s family. Friends make Christmas too. Which reminds me that my intent for next year is to enjoy more time with people (since I didn’t see many this time), entertain more – cut into those intense running around days and make room to just be and revel in some new Christmas ways. Those are the things I thought about while laying in bed and while tending others.
We are all right as rain again and ready to enjoy two Epiphany birthdays. Thank you so much for all your enthusiastic comments on my feminine Christmas series and thank you for the emails you sent me. I wish you a Happy New Year! January Joys will be forthcoming…

Lovely image of the Magi.
Reminds me of the artwork style of my childhood.
Thank you for your devotion to Christmas and its season.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
What a blessing.

So true! Christmas as a season has been delightful, even though there were some speedbumps and rabbit holes along the way. I believe Christmas is what we make it, and the overarching beauty of Christmas, celebrating the birth of our Savior, rises above all circumstances to remind us that the most important, eternal element of the holiday is to prepare Him room and, like the Magi, come adore Him. Thank you for this wonderful series!!! Can’t wait for next year’s!!
